Harmony of Mind

Not good enough

Not good enough

If I was great, they would have noticed me

Is it too late to change my fate

for teachers and colleges and grades

compared to others who have it “all together”

With valued skills innate?

Keep looking up

Keep looking up

Because you must be down and below

Cherry pick the stars of the classroom show

Keep my eyes to the ground and I’m blind

Keep up and I’m behind

No place, no face time to shine.
If my abilities aren’t in line,

where are they?

Built to be toughBuilt to be tough

and Elusive, in the corners of your round

path that you thought you had down.

Eyes set, fate set on things beyond you

without letting those voices inside you sing,

they grow soft and smaller every hour,

thinking you have nothing to bring to the table,

you don’t raise your hand.

Like skill is some capital you are unable to gain.

But it will only wither in vain.

Not everything

Not everything

Nobody is everything,

a choir cannot sing a masterpiece without the high and lows

of varied voices that flow together to become one.

Our brains tries to make sense of our position in life,

to contain our existence in definitions

that are enforced by our tuition.

Listen

Listen

You only have to be, and what you do

should only be your melody that you desire

to clearly see the fire built within you.

Change your perception of where to belong.

Don’t aim to be the highest note.

Be the harmony of the world’s song.
