Hatred

Of all the species in this world,

Why do we hate others of our own?

Where we come from, no one can be sure.

But we found each other,

stayed with each other- perhaps it was the cold-

and, eventually, we loved each other.

This love is not achieved, it's maintained.

Like a tender flower, we are the nutrients.

Cut off our supply, our togetherness,

and the flower will surely wilt.

What causes us to hate?

We'll likely never know,

whether it be innate or developed.

But we do know, we'd be better off without it.

Hatred is a fire that we build inside us.

Perhaps that's why we hate.

To fight the coldness we find inside ourselves.

But what comes from this hatred is worse.

Isolation and desolation.

What a lonely sad world it will be.

If I allow hatred to consume me.
