Hatred

Boiling, writhing, seeping I see no way to appease my desires I love him, I love him, I love him!! Screaming does me no good You won't hear it You inch your way through my nerves Wait. I am a river, calm but strong I cut through rocks like momma use to cut through bread I'm pretty to the eye But swallow you whole if you stay too long I am a mountain looking down on your insignificant ass But then again whose winning? I keep forgetting this isn't a contest So what are we fighting for? Nothing. So I cut through the ring, but you just keep rebuilding it Tell me Darling is it my last name that bothers you? The shiny ring you never got to call yours? The way your son chooses me? I can't tell. All I know is you're written in my story A chapter called: This is what it means to be an adult And I'm trying. God! I'm trying You don't make it any easier. I guess that's the point So here's my declaration, my decision, my knockout punch You get the ribbon, the bragging rights, the trophy on your shelf I'll keep the family And the hatred to myself When its all said and done you'll have only yourself to blame
