Haunted Castle

Once upon a time in a land far away

A prince was born on a bright sunny day

The King and Queen were bursting with love

For this beautiful baby, a gift from above

He grew up to be a happy young lass

Never disrespectful or lacking in class

Although still a boy, he was sturdy and strong

Doing his best to right any wrong

But, along came a stranger into the great land

With intentions of taking over command

He captured the leaders as well as their son

And imprisoned them far beneath the kingdom

The stranger ruled with hatred and wrath

Wicked and greedy and on a warpath

People were suffering with nothing to eat

Clothed in rags and no shows on their feet

The prince was so saddened and to his dismay

He realized the kingdom was withering away

Unable to escape, he began to give up

This nightmare from which he couldn't wake up

But, there was a young girl on the outskirts of town

Who was determined to take the new ruler down

Although she was just tiny and slight

And told she could never stand up and fight

She trained in the shadows and cover of night

She was stealth like a ninja, it was truly a sight

Intelligent and cunning, ahead of her time

She apply her wit, rather than crime

To defeat the dictator, overthrow the regime

If everything went according to scheme

Everyone knew the ruler was scared

To the point he was truly impaired

Of anything that went bump in the night

In the vast darkness and out of eyesight

He kept candles burning to chase out the dark

The castle looked like a glowing landmark

Using this knowledge, she set out to chase

The ruler away, far from this place

Employing her prowess and stunning light feet

She scaled the walls of the castle; unnoticed, discrete

While the ruler was eating a feast for a king

She put her plan into action to see what it'd bring

She secretly cut holes in the walls

Throughout the castle's magnificent walls

This created a draft, tiny and brief

Like a silent, crafty, mysterious thief

That snuffed out the candles and stole all the light

And left the new ruler riddled with fright

Once the candles were out, she began the next phase

Of a scheme that she'd be planning for days

She rigged the castle to make awful sound

As if there were ghosts moving around

She added visual effects that were scary indeed

In hopes that the ruler would eventually concede

For weeks upon weeks, she continued this game

Until the ruler thought he was surely insane

That the King, Queen and their son

Were sending up ghosts from the dungeon

In an effort to break this terrible spell

He released the prisoners from their dark cell

He fled the domain, never again to be seen

And the kingdom was restored to its original glean

The royal family went back into reign

And the suffering of the people started to wane

As for the young lady who created this ruse

She slipped off in silence, leaving no clues

She was happy enough to know in her heart

That she had made the wicked ruler depart
