Haunting Memories of a Beautifully Tormented Soul

I haven’t dreamt about her

In years

Not like this

Anyway…

Yearning for her

Yet achingly aware

Waking,

Wrapped within the security of her arms

Was as unlikely as forgetting how to breathe…

Still warmth from her skin

Penetrated our clothes

Which served as a barrier between us

A constant reminder

Of the reality of it all…

Of the dream it was not…

The sweet familiar scent of her skin

Assaulted my senses

As I awoke completely

Leaving behind the insincerity

Of last night’s dream

A sadness settled upon me

As I realized

She was forever a part of me

Forgetting the love of my life

And her memory

Was like forgetting how to breathe;

Unlikely.

Tears spilled from my eyes

Releasing years of unspoken pain

And loneliness

I’d lived with for so long;

So, I learned to ignore it

But my tactics of preoccupation

Of the mind

Were feeble attempts

At memory loss

And failed to remove my memories

Therefore removing my misery

From my dreams

As well as my life.

Just as suddenly

As I fell into the deep dark depths of depression,

I was pulled out…

She reached in

With strength and sincerity

And Saved me…

From myself.
