Have we changed
Its been over a century since our ancestors since our were in chains.
its been decades since JIm crow ruled the south,
and separate but equal was the joke of the day.
Our brothers of the fairer skin say those times are in the past,
we didn't experience those times,
and that times have changed.
But have things really changed?
We are living in a time when an unarmed black teen can be gunned down in the streets with,
And his killer continues to live his life as a free man.
living in a time when a teen can be found in a wrestling mat in a gym in south Ga,
and the only thing that is said is no foul play involved.
living in a time when a man can shoot 8 shots at a group of teens for playing loud music.
Living in a time when people hate the president because of the color of his skin.
It doesn't seem that we have made it very far in the last 50 years.
Still to many black mothers getting that knock on their door,
reviving that news and busting into tears.
My son is dead.
Another young black man dead for something so small.
Something our white brothers do everyday without question.
Times heals all wounds,
but does time change everything?
a great lyrical poet once said "I see no changes"
My question is will we ever see true changes?
Something wrong with this poem?
