Have you ever?

Have you ever lied to a lover?

Just to convince yourself

That you would never look at another

Especially one who may look a little like yourself

Have you ever cried about a lover?

Wondering who will be the first to hurt the other one

Even if that could be years away

But in your head it feels like it may happen today

Have you ever denied a lover?

From a kiss

Since you can feel the past upon their lips

Taste the sadness, the guilt, and lost lust under their salty skin

Have you ever stayed up wondering if anyone has ever felt the same?

And secretly hoping no one has

Just so there is a reason for this to be happening

Since you will be the first one to tell this story

….have you ever felt that?
