Hawk
The duty of care I carry to replace the absence of a mother lingers in my soul
I, the hawk, watching over its prey
my pull only pushes you away,
Yet my claws tremble at the thought of letting go
knowing Tribulation awaits,
For you to learn
To open your own gates.
Your silence amplifies my thoughts,
Isolated
and surrounded with voices
To let you make your own mistakes,
your own choices
I will be your shadow silent but constant, there in your darkest of times,
when the world seems too harsh to withstand.
I hope to be to you what I lacked,
to watch you grow into your own roots rather than be poisoned by our tree.
I am not your mother.
you do not belong to me.
