The Hawk
As the hawk swoops down
collecting its prey,
I can't help but to wonder
just what would it say?
Would it say the purpose
was simply just a game?
Or was it for its children,
hungry, still and tame?
But better yet I wonder-
what about that tiny creature?
And just what would it do
with bravery as a feature?
Would it tell about its own children,
afraid and cold in bed?
And how they expect a soon return
and without her will soon be dead?
Would it wish for something better,
someone to stand up and shout,
to tell that hungry hawk
something to think about?
About her own life problems
that she is working through.
How taking her away from it all
is certainly not due.
So now I sit and wonder
as I ponder this sorry sight.
Next time I see a hawk and prey
will I stand up and fight?
Something wrong with this poem?
