HE
…
By: Daniela Perez
I try to understand the who’s, the what’s, the whens, the whys, and the how’s.
[PAUSE]
Sometimes I feel like I’m in this maze and everywhere I look there’s just no way out.
[MILDLY LOUD GASP & PAUSE]
I feel like I need to claw my way out of these walls to see a little ray of light. I just don’t understand how people live their life as if everything is just fine
[PAUSE]
I think to myself, “This just can’t be happening to me’”
[PAUSE & DEEP BREATHE]
Everyday people are hurt, and most of the time if feels as if its just the good people
[PAUSE &CLEAR TEARS OFF AS IF ANGRY]
I have never been a person of anger, full of spite, or a person full of hatred.
But I can’t help this feeling of anger, this feeling of hate toward these people.
[PAUSE & PROJECT ANGERNESS THROUGHT VOICE]
People who hurt of others, people who steal, and people who think they can have anything their heart, full of poison, desires.
These people, these criminals, who are they to take what’s not theirs:
A person’s happiness, a woman’s dignity and confidence, a family’s fathers, a man’s pride.
[PAUSE]
I know I am not supposed to feel hatred or spite.
I don’t know what to do anymore.
Do I fake a smile and a happy life?
Or do I break down and wait…
[PAUSE]
Wait for something or someone to save from my own life?
No of course not. Why do I have to wait?!
I don't have to wait. I need to free myself.
I know that life is not always about self imprisonment.
I can be my own savior my own hero.
I was born to fight not just for myself but others.
This is what I am supposed to do.
For others.
For me.
