He
Listen--
Wind falls
Dances
Breathes--
Hair flickers in the wind
Like a candle--
A link to another world
Of light on dark,
Contrasting images
Of life and death.
His hands
They grip mine
Like a vice,
Dragging me down
To Hell--
The hell within his mind
Depression and anxiety
Tossing around his being
Like a doll
In a dog's mouth.
Unwelcome,
Biting words
Like a knife through the icy wind
Within his soul
He speaks.
He speaks
Words of cruelty,
Of love,
Of everything in between--
Fighting life within himself.
He is seen
Within shadows
Of his soul.
Through the doors
He walks--
Antidepressants and SSRIs
To fix what was broken,
To alter the chemicals within himself.
He swallows them whole
And down they go.
Months pass--
The leaves turn brown and crisp;
He sees this outside the office window
Of the woman who prods into his soul
And alters his behavior.
Snow falls.
Falls like his misery.
Breaths of life enter his body
And he shifts, like spring--
He is new.
