He Broke Me and I'm Still Figuring It Out
One day I found myself looking deep into his eyes,
searching for the humanity that once showed through
Trying to remember the days his heart wasn’t webbed with fucking lies
And didn’t only care enough to hurt me “because I love you”
Never again will I let anyone’s love leave me feeling blue
And purple, and yellow-green, scared and alone
Slowly letting him drown me just “because I love you”
Opening my empty eyes to see I had lost my best friend, my home
The pain he left comes in waves, but somewhere inside me I found glue
Slowly I put myself back together with a quiet strength deep within
So to the next person I find myself saying “Because I love you”
I had to put myself together again so it will be harder to earn my trust than it has ever been
One day the words will slip out of my mouth, and I’ll finally allow myself to feel
The love in which I learn how to feel loved without a bitter residue
I only know love to hurt, but one day it will heal
Because I love myself, Because I will love you
Because I love you,
Love will be patient, balanced, kind
Because you love me,
This time Love will not be blind
