He Danced

He danced with eyes wide open

A gentle tap upon the floor

There was a freedom you couldn't close in

He couldn't be held down anymore

His arms reached above his head

Raised up toward the stars

Toes etched messages loose on from dread

You almost couldn't see the scars

Thin little lines that adorned his wrist

Must more painful

Than a fist

His pain was finally over

The darkened clouds fade away

He looked up heavenward

So grateful for the day
