he deserved to live.

she's sitting at home,

where's her son,

she dials 911

he should be home.

the cop stares at her,

listens to the description

but her words goes through his left ear and out his right

he doesn't listen,

he only sees.

african american, black

that's all he sees .

and she can see that.

all of this

while her son is pulled over in his car

put your hands on the wheel

look straight ahead

can you hear me boy?

do it!

the boy's body trembles

he's frozen with fear

he knows what to say

his momma taught him when he was young.

he does as the cop says

says his name

his age

not too soft

not too loud.

the cop tells him to get out

he can hear his momma's voice

do as they tell you

no matter what.

get out!

the cop rages

pulling the boy out of his thoughts

why is he so scared?

he's the one wearing the bullet proof vest

not me.

.....

the news blares

she wakes up

checks her child's room

where is-

she hears his name

it's not from the house though

it's on the news.

16 yr old black male shot by white cop.
