Like He Died

He was taken away,

Put somewhere else,

Completely out of our sight,

Without our consent,

Without even a goodbye,

And I see you

Laughing,

Just chilling,

Like nothing ever happened,

Like he wasn’t ever snatched away,

Like he’s not gone,

Like life is as normal as ever,

But it’s not,

So stop pretending,

And so stop acting

Like everything’s okay,

Because you know it’s not,

You know it as well as I do;

I walk past his room,

The door open,

The room smelling of his cologne,

The room dark as night,

And I feel shivers crawl down my spine,

And I feel tears threatening to appear,

Feeling his loss

As if I had truly lost him forever,

As if he truly had died.

I have been writing poetry for 5 years now and I have a collection of over 600 original poems I've made. I submitted a poem to Appelley Publishing and was published in the 2018 addition of their poetry book. I love to read and write, and I have a cat and a hamster.
