He Fights
He fights.
Standing with the weight of the world on his shoulders,
Just like a boulder,
And forced to grow older
Because no one else will.
Pressure goes to his head, makes him desperate to live,
And it's more than he has to offer or give,
But he tries,
And he lies,
And he hides it from his friends
And his family, but the world can see it in his eyes
That he's broken.
His strength is waning.
It's feigned, and it's cracked,
And, no matter how he tries, he just ends up right back
Where he started,
Playing the same old game, though he knows that it's wrong,
And his life is a mess,
It's so hard to stay strong.
So, he lets himself fall, and he shatters when he hits the ground,
And all he can hear is the horrible sound
Of his life and his world just falling apart,
But his loved ones remain and take hold of his heart.
He's still beaten and bruised,
And still knows he's been used,
And repeatedly so that it's shortened his fuse,
But he's risen above,
Traded hatred for love.
He brings light to this world that once tried to shove
Him through this life,
And slowly, through strife.
He's taught me to fight
To see the light that will guide me,
The reason I write.
