He, Him, I
He held my hand
He didn’t let go
The tightest grip
The strongest smile, He did show
"We can get through this" he said
No hesitation
Not faltering
Every sensation
Grew in my heart
They scorned
They mocked
They opposed
A door they didn’t want to knock
The parents did say no
As if this was a war
But it became our battle
Something for us to fight for
They only want to protect
Their little girl
They don’t want to break
Their little precious pearl
He knew their side
And understood
But clasped on
As tight as he could
"It's not a battle of differences
But of approval
Of you growing
But without removal"
He said
He showed me out of the way
Of discomfort
And sorrow
With which I did suffer
The harder it was
The more he did cleave
I grew to have the hope
That he will not leave
It's not only what I want
But has become what I need
His love, his presence
Without a doubt indeed
The tears he wiped
The smiles he did place
Within my heart
Filling all the space
Amongst the pain
He was the light
To fill my soul
Throughout the entire fight
Darkness and anger
Was the path I walked upon
Before he intervened into my path
And now 'tis gone
He cleared the trail
With flowers along the way
He did not fail
To miss a day
To complete my heart
And with that Everything was okay
Take a breath
Release the tears
Be strong and fight
For our many years
To live without him
Is to have no air
Like a corpse
With no spirit to bear
Take him away
And I shall die
The emotions I have felt
Cannot be identified
For it is beyond
Man's eye
In my heart it will stay
And my life did he beautify
The journey, the pain, and the love
I've felt
Like none other
And is all I need
