He pulled your pigtails because he likes you.

The world of a little girl is probably full of dolls, dresses, and bows. Most people know that if a little boy pulls a little girl’s pigtail it means he likes her. Isn’t it peculiar, in kindergarten aggression gives the impression of affection.

But later that little girl will learn the lesson that when the boy isn't so little anymore, he'll want that dress on the floor. Closed doors, loud moans, no parents home. The little girls grows, and slowly stops playing dress up and is told to dress down, because toy trucks and rubber ducks lost their appeal and now he just wants to feel her up.

That same little boy who pushed her on the playground will push her around again, but this time not out of affection, but from an erection. Push her into a wall, make her fall, and if she tries to crawl away he forces her stay. She pays the price of being too nice to say no, for all she knows he hurts her because he likes her, it's just how he flirts. she's scared to death, hardly take a breath, undressed and distressed.

She learns to be compliant and stay silent so he becomes less reliant on causing her pain and tear stains just so he can gain more pleasure.

She wants to believe that he treasures her. He tells her lies of loving her not caring if she cries to herself every night, telling herself it's alright, that his violence is just an act of romance. At first glance she seems happy, hiding behind fake smiles and long sleeves so no one sees the bruises. So no one knows how he uses and abuses her. And soon she loses her will to live, all because she was told her that he hurt her because he liked her. But no one ever told her that that stopped being acceptable.

Yet it never should have been an option on the table.

No matter the age no one should be able to cause someone else pain as a sign of interest.
