He said, I said

He said, I said "Lets play a game" He said "sure" I said his dark clad cloak flitted in the wind an image flickering to existence by one gesture with his long skeletal fingers a girl on a cold bathroom stall floor, eyes red and hands shaking "who is she?" I ask he moves behind me placing a hand on my shoulder whispering in my ear "she. is you" I freeze watching as the girl looks up pulling her head up from her knees to look at me or rather through me familiar red rimmed blue eyes looking up at me the very same color of hair I have her light skin a contrast against her black long sleeve shirt I turn to look at the dark clad figure "why are you showing me this?" I ask "you said you wanted to play a game didn't you?" I hesitate before nodding "then play my game" "what Is the game?" He chuckled a sound like dry leaves scraping across stone "the game.. is survival, pet. and you darling are already losing" "how?" I whisper my eyes fixed on the vision of me he gestures to my sobbing self "she is running out of time, and so are you" I turn to look at him "then tell me how to win" he chuckles again "you have to confess" "what?" "that's the game little bird, you have to figure it out" he says and in one swift turn he's gone the floor drops from under me forcing me into a completely dark room my breath the only sound in the room. and suddenly the darkness comes alive. shadows creep forward hands wrapping around my ankles and arms trying to force me back my heart beats in double time "no. NO" I scream trying to yank myself forward tears running down my face as the pale hands try to yank me back their fingers dig into my skin blood welling to the surface I suck in a shuddered strangled breath as I push forward my boots scraping against the cold stone the hands finally let go and I curl up into a corner knees to my chest the silence of the room returns suffocating and dark I trace my arms feeling the gashes suddenly a mechanical click comes from above I look up as light shines down on me seeing the figure above me tilting his head "ready to confess?" he asks his voice cold "confess what?!" I yell tears running down my face "I'll take that as a no, suit yourself little bird" the ceiling closes once more and I let out a scream as the floor drops again this time I am in a familiar place "no" I whisper as I see the familiar trees and park benches that hold dark memories I stumble backward my back pressing against the very same tree that is the dark in my mind a figure appears familiar brown hair and green eyes appearing in front of me his hand reach out pining me to the bark "NO" I scream pushing him away the figure disappearing as quick as it came the park disappearing transporting me to the same room as before this time strapped to a dark wooden chair the dark clad figure appearing In front of me "confess" I swallow, my cheeks wet with shed tears. "It's about him isn't it?" he tilts his head "you tell me, pet" I choke back a sob the leather biting into my wrists trying to pull away from his piercing gaze "I don't know what you want from me" I whisper he steps closer his cloak on the floor like bleeding ink "you know exactly what I want yet you've buried it so deep you thought it would suffocate, yet here it is bleeding through the cracks" he places a finger on my chest "say it" "fine! fine!" I sob my throat tightening he tilts his head his beady black eyes meeting mine "I should have fought harder" I breathe "it's my fault" he smiles "see was that so hard little bird?" the leather straps fall away and the figure whips away disappearing into the shadows of the room. the floor falls away once more and I land onto a cold bathroom floor the same floor from the image I curl up in the corner pressing my knees to my chest burying my head between my knees tears dripping onto the floor "he lied" a familiar voice comes from across the room I look up seeing myself staring back at me "what?" "he lied" she whispers her voice trembling slightly "it wasn't your fault he made you say it because it's the lie you've been feeding yourself this entire time" from the shadows comes a familiar dry chuckle the figure appearing in the shadows I lunge forward at the figure reaching for his dark form I open my eyes sweat beading on my forehead sitting up in my bed my breath heavy in the moonlight room. I settle back on my pillow closing my eyes for a moment "just a dream" I breathe I open my eyes once more seeing my arms and dark cuts and bruises "wait. no" I gasp softly I get up hurriedly out of bed freezing as I see a single black feather next to a note "see you next time little bird" is scrawled in cursive I sit on the side of my bed shaking it wasn't a dream. it was real. I heard what he said and I responded he said, I said a constant loop
