He Was My First Love

A hunger.

Impatience catalyzed within soft veins.

A thirst.

Lips cracked with a desire to be touched.

I feel him,

From a mile away.

His body chemicals and mine react

His skin so soft and innocent under my touch.

I only know the value of our moments

Until they are memories

But then the memories are beautiful

They make me smile, laugh, cry.

I wish we weren’t so distant

Because event though the animals inside us

Know where we are

It’s the fact that even if we are near each other

We can’t muster a word

Maybe this summer will be different

Everyone tells me to find someone new

But I’m in love with the idea

That these hot months can become our symphony of blue
