He was a snake
He did not think before he struck.
He was a viper springing to attack.
He swiftly moved to push her.
The bruises formed on her back.
She felt bound and stagnant.
She could not process nor move.
The word “no” passed through her lips.
She did not know what to do.
His fingers were his fangs.
His voice lulled with a rattle.
His touch was his poison
And she fought a losing battle.
She felt the scales in his skin
And the glare in his eyes.
She almost felt as though
She was fighting to survive.
Now she writes in protest
Of her own victimization
So that one day maybe he
Will come to a realization
There was no possible way
She could have been clearer.
She kept saying “no”
And yet he drew nearer.
Her body was hers alone
And there was more at stake
For nothing else is so vengeful
Or so vindictive as a snake.
