Head and Heart
My Love, my love, I bid thee know
That my heart hath loved thee all this time;
And even as my spirit go,
Heart will not follow and break her bind.
For Head and Heart can never agree,
Thus, neither do Spirit and Soul;
And even as I part with thee,
My sorrow, like thunder, rolls.
Head, the center of Rationale,
Despise erratic Emotion;
While Heart, enthralled by passionate morale,
Doth embrace her child before Caution.
And in all this madness my Love never fails;
Though Logic and Spirit and Head prevail.
