Headphones

Wearing you takes me to a different place,

Where the noises around me are no longer audible.

I carry you everywhere just in case,

So that any problem is instantly solvable.

To others you can be very distracting.

The songs you sing are not, ‘music to their ears’.

But I think they’re just overreacting,

Because I could listen to you for years.

You are reliable like a mother,

Who is always there when I have a bad day.

I keep you close to me like a brother,

Who is never more than a couple of steps away.

I could not imagine a day without you,

If I ever lost you, Lord knows what I’d do.
