Healer

The Great Healer

Missing from our lives

They call him a savior, king of kings

Invisible, yet present?

Magical, yet hidden?

It is impossible to rationalize these myths of old

I search for answers but am met with silence

So I fantasize

He parks outside hospital doors in a beaten Honda Civic

Steps inside with reserved confidence

He walks through the lobby, and something begins to change

Rosy mist fills the lungs of nurses and patients alike

And they are suddenly, inexplicably, happy and safe

He need not step another foot farther

For all is well

Death has evaded this place, and so He continues

He heals the weak and sickly in mere nanoseconds

I still know not of his existence, and though I pray it is real, I can never be sure

For still he is absent

The truest of heroes, the savior of saviors

Perhaps true, perhaps false

I only know that I feel alone, lacking the hero that no one can see

This is just something about how I've been told all my life that there was a real superhero once, a superhero I sure as hell haven't been able to find.
