Healing

You know that you're healing

When the sad songs start to lose their meaning

You can finally go back to thinking

Instead of feeling

When you see them

This time

They do not stop your heart from beating

There is no difficulty in breathing

And you imagine for a minute

That thoughts of them will not prevent you from sleeping

Of course there's one fact that you are keeping

From yourself

Healing will be slow

Due to the wealth

Of reminders

You have of this spider

That creeps into your mind

All of the time

The idea that they have such a hold on you

Sends a chill down your spine

As you still hope

"One day you'll be mine"

But until then

I'll pretend

That I am just fine
