Healing Hands

Your heart, it pounds

Blocks every sound

As your hands incontrollably shake

While assisting in the wake

There is no pulse

There is no breath

You think to yourself

"God, please, not death"

Your breathing turns rapid

Your compressions are vapid

Tears fall from your eyes

"I can't save this guy"

Time of death, 1430

Your heart is hurting

You were born to heal

But we must be real

With life comes death

And tears will be wept

But remember your purpose

You are NOT worthless

The shoes you fill

The hands that heal

The love you bring

The song your soul sings

You are a nurse

Your patients come first

You do what you can

And they understand

It won't always be perfect

But it will always be worth it

It'll be worth it
