Healing Led to Discovery

Battered and bruised, lost and neglected I wasn't quite sure what to do with the mess surrounding me My thoughts were scattered and my memories disfigured Not sure what events led to the unfortunate finale. Insanity was inevitable, for I didn't know where next to go Until a paper and pen was pushed in front of me. Through guidance and friendship and the words "Just let it out" I was able to find myself again. Poetry helped me release tension, anger, confusion All my rapidly changing thoughts It lead me to a relaxing state that had been absent for so long I write because it makes me happy I write because it makes me sad I write because it reminds me to never forget my past.
