Healing Process
Okay honestly I have so many poems about feeling heartbroken by a complete jerk but I'm over him now.
It took a while,
It really did;
You certainly did your job well,
Making sure I loved you enough
To love you forever
And stick by your side,
And it came out of nowhere,
BOOM!
Like a bomb exploding inside my heart,
And shattering it into
Millions of tiny fragile fragments,
So that I had to clean it all up
And try to glue my heart back together,
First I had to find every little piece,
But there was no way I could,
So there are still those little
Cracks and crevices everywhere,
Then I had to take a hot glue gun
And glue each piece of my heart
To one another so it would be complete,
Like an impossible puzzle,
Consisting of a million individual pieces,
Once I had it put back together,
Sometimes some pieces would fall out of place,
And bigger pieces would fall,
Causing the whole thing to break
And fall apart,
But as time went on,
The glue had time to fill and dry,
And the pieces had time to stick,
And my heavy heart had time to heal,
I eventually got over you,
Though it did take a while,
So long in fact,
That I had forgotten what
A happy life looked like,
So when I finally came
Out of hiding,
Eyes still red,
Throat still raw,
Cheeks still wet,
Clothes still soaked,
I dried my tears
And put my clothes in the dryer
Set to high heat,
My life felt a lot better,
Even though there are times
When I still miss you
As I think of what could’ve-would’ve-should’ve been,
But then I think of you,
And what you did to me,
Lying when you said you loved me,
Yes,
I still do wish we could’ve been together,
But soon I’ll be sure to find someone new,
To love,
And you won’t need me anymore,
And I won’t need you,
So be grateful while it lasts,
With your new girlfriend,
‘Cause I’m never coming back to you.
