Healthy Loving
You open the box imbedded deep within my heart
A box filled with pain and desire
But you don't scowl at the contents
When you peer inside
Instead you smile fondly and whisper:
"It's beautiful"
When I feel broken
You help me put myself together
Then you embrace me
Always knowing the right time to do so
Even when I tell you I want to be alone
You still linger as my shoulder to cry on
You disagree with me on occasion
But you never cease to hear me out
You always know how to criticize
Without needing to villianize
And though we may argue from time to time
Underneath the strife remains something everglowing
You tell me you love me the way I am
Against the idea: As I am, I'm not loved
You love my idiosyncrasies and individuality
A gift that I value above many others
The only way I know how to repay
Is to give the same gift but in my own way
You express your joy to me
And I can't help but feel the same
Your meadow is my meadow
And your smile teases out my own
But likewise your sorrow is my sorrow
And your pain punctures me deeply
You love me as I am, which I know
And I would say the same
But I love more than just "you"
I love your aura, its reach ambient
Its presence seen in my surroundings saying:
"And I love you just the same"
