Healthy Relationship
You push me into the school lockers
Telling me that shirt isn’t made for other people
Just your eyes only
You’d say because I love you or if you’d love me you would not do certain things and I would listen
You backlash into me about how guys talk or look at me
You tell me I’m no good and will never find anyone better
That if I try to leave you will hunt me down and beat me
You treat me as if I never have a say
Family and friends tell me how unhealthy this is
You cheat and tell me not to listen to rumors because rumors are just that
I continued in this relationship wondering why I stay
I stayed only for a simple fact I felt stuck
I was afraid, scared
What happens if I leave?
I considered this for months and months being abused by a guy who said he loved me
Until one day I think about a better time
Where you aren’t involved
Where you have no say in what I do or wear or say
I find someone who loves me
And actually means it
Someone who doesn’t tell me what to wear or do
Someone who treats me like I’m my own individual
Fast forward 6 years
I found someone who treats me the way I should be
He pushes me to become a better person
He supports me in my college classes
He has eyes only for me
He never lays a finger on me
He tells me I’m beautiful every single day
He actually takes me on dates and wants to be out with me
I’m no longer trapped in that unhealthy relationship
I wear what I want to again
I finally have self confidence
I look at myself every morning grinning because I know I can do anything I put my mind to
I’m me again and I’m stronger than ever
I will never fall back into that unhealthy relationship
My self worth is greater than any guy
The day I left you was the day I started loving myself
