Healthy relationships don’t exist without trust
Do you trust me?
Those powerful words,
Giving someone the ability to stray away,
And trusting that they’ll stay.
Giving someone the ability to break your heart,
And trusting that they’ll never tear it apart.
Allowing someone to know your deepest fears,
And trusting that they’ll protect you and hold you near.
Trusting them to catch you when you fall,
and being there for you through it all.
Through grief and loss, they’ll be there with you to mourn,
Through sickness and pain, they’ll be there to help you heal,
And through failure, they’ll be there to pick you up.
They enrich your life, they grow with you.
When it’s healthy, change and growth will be for the better.
And you would do it all for them too.
Life may be full of despair,
But you two don’t even care.
Because you have each other,
To power through it all.
You have unconditional love.
Your blood, a friend, or even a lover.
Relationships exist in many forms,
But without trust, they’ll be unhealthy and filled with scorn.
