Hear Me Out

"Quiet"

"I can hear you down the hall"

"Her voice tends to carry"

"She can be a bit chatty"

They all say it

forever it seems

it follows everywhere

its inescapable

In every conversation

In every response to a question

"Learn to control it"

"Find a way to tone it down"

They always forget something though.

It is powerful.

It commands a room

It spreads ideas

It leaves an impression

It makes everyone stop and think

There's a reason it could always be heard

Above all the other noise and chatter

Maybe, though,

they told us this

because they didn't want us to know

that what was supposed to be our greatest weakness

is actually

our biggest asset.
