Hear my Hope

Hear my hope

Breathless are my thoughts,

Lifeless is my body,

Numb is my heart, without hope.

So hear my craving,

The fearless reigning power of a

Mind with overflowing hope.

It’s the stagnant, distant light

That flashes flakes of future purpose.

The hope that uplifts the weak

To grow bold,

Gives the creative strength

To break the mold,

Animates their spirit

When their bones rust old.

It’s the reassurance that suppresses my doom

When my head has dropped to depths below.

It’s the simple smile of a stranger

Or a subtle whispering wave hello.

It’s the peace that I fight for

When my sanity has withered and gone.

No matter the oppositions that

Tear away my throne.

My prominent laughter that overcomes all sorrows

Is the hope that brings me through to new tomorrows.

A hope preeminent in the world’s existence.

The defining star in my own resilience.

A person does not fear

That the sun will never return.

Day by day I rise up

With hope, it is that I have learned

That the world is still spinning,

Just as thoughts race in my head

But I would rather have a “hopeless hope”

Than to have no hope instead.

Call me a dreamer; say I’m a fool

But by my ambitions, God has lead.

Because my greatest lessons

Weren’t learned from textbooks I have previously read.

Ephemeral materials may sound pleasing

But the one unique feeling that I’ve been needing,

And spent my whole life clinging to

Is Hope.

All

I

NEED

Is Hope.
