Heart Beat

Had a crush on this girl...four years and counting.

Can't get my words to say what I want to say

So I hide behind doors hoping she doesn't hear my heart

Beating louder than an African drum set.

I think about opening the door,

Letting her into my life...I think twice

And in a second she disappeared from my life, but I still remember her smile.

If I could repeat high school...I would

But only because our conversations lasted about thirty seconds...

I want to extend that.

This past Winter I was paralyzed and realized

Life doesn't give a damn about your plans.

An education?

Throw that out the window.

My heart beats when I put ink on a page

But my life story repeats itself over and over and over and...

They say good things come in three.

The first time I saw you... I thought you were all right.

We didn't speak, hell, you were the one who actually remembered the interaction.

The second time

I couldn't even remember your name... partly due to the angels singing in my head.

The third time was weird

But special.

Winter has a funny way of bringing people together...

We stood there

Waiting

Making conversation

As my heart kept skipping beats.
