Heart in a Cage

I have never been in love

But I understand

It’s when you gasp

And stumble in your path

Wondering where this has been

Your whole life

When goose bumps slither across your skin

The hairs behind you neck stand up

When you cant imagine your life without it

Oh no I am not talking about a boy

Music

Music is my beating heart

I wouldn’t be this person

Without music in my veins

In order to survive these perilous times

I need inspiration

Courage

Laughter

Sadness

I need a means to satisfy my obsession

When I close my eyes

I feel beats fluttering behind my eyelids

I dream in color

I wake up with a song on my lips

Can I live my life

Without my only reason to live

I spend my days

Scourging for new inspiration

I am not content with my ordinary life

Music is my only escape

It shatters my grey existence

Music will be my savior

Music will guide me to a path

I don’t need a man

A person

To help me achieve greatness

So you ask if I have ever been in love

I will say yes

I have fallen many times

And I cannot live without it
