Heart of Hearts

The heart of hearts, the shield that protects,

The little smile, that fills love within your chest,

The big, strong hand that holds on so tight,

The loving one, who wants everything to go right,

The wise owl, that gives the best advice,

The mama bear, that fends off the little mice,

The shoulder that’s caught so many tears,

The light that takes away all fears,

The grain of sand that holds back the sea,

The fearless warrior that will never flee,

The anchor that keeps the ship in place,

The matriarch that takes on life with grace,

The friend that hears all the complaints,

The angel that treats others as they are saints,

The mirror that only reflects the good,

The flame that lights the firewood,

The sugar that sweetens any tea,

The flower that attracts any bee,

The roots that support the tree,

The ear that bears every plea,

The rock that forms the mountain,

The water that fills every fountain,

The hero, and all that I can hope to be,

The one that gave birth to me,

She is all that I will ever need.
