Heart hotel
They broke it into pieces
The whole of her soul
They added many people
Who weren’t worthy of her
They cut her skin
And carved out lines
They told her life was a lie
That beauty faded with time
That love was not something you find
And that she should run away and hide
They sketched these thoughts
Into her heart
They tied it up with strings
And pulled them tight
And strangled its wings
So it couldn’t take flight
They left all the memories
Sowed into its floors
They left all the people
Trapped inside its wall boards
Dates and names
Accompanied her
As she traveled the rooms
She cleaned many memories
Of the things she once knew
She dusted the beds
Of a familiar scent
That haunted her head
Ghosts of people wanted the halls
Reminder to her all great people fall
As she walked down the stairs
And they followed her strides
Some taking shelter in the darkness and trying to hide
She opened the doors
That were once boarded and closed
To let in the new
And let out the old
Her heart hotel was renovated
And now open for good
She wouldn’t let herself get hurt again
Because she has more self worth then before
