Heart Less Traveled
I’d rather have sex with you in random places.
You attempt to guide me to the bed
But I led you to the road less traveled by.
The couch, the counter, the floor…
You may not think anything of it,
Yet there’s a purpose for my nonsense.
I don’t want the emotional connection
That comes from intimacy
In your most intimate space.
Your bed holds your
Dreams, thoughts, nightmares..
It holds your comfort.
It holds…you
When no one else will.
Laying in your bed
I don’t want to inhale your
Scent, nightmares, nor your dreams.
I can’t allow your pillows to whisper your thoughts.
I can not replace the embrace of your comforter.
Because I am not yours, and you are not mine.
Because what we have is everything
Because what we have is nothing
You may not understand, but
I like the distance between us.
Physically, none.
Emotionally, done.
