Heart Number One and Heart Number Two

I’m beside myself

I don’t know what to do

I’m caught between beating

Heart number one and Heart number two

People say with love you just know

But it’s not that easy, it takes guts to show

What’s in your mind and what’s in your heart

I fear that one day we will all fall apart

Heart number one beats for you, a special kind of glow

But in your head, it’s dim and bites like winters snow

I understand it’s not enough for you or anyone as it seems

But I wish your heart, heart number two, didn’t have such a beautiful gleam

It aches and begs for affection just like mine,

But receives it almost instantly, mine comes by the count of nine

So why must you cry?

It seems it comes quicker for those whose hearts bleed

But mine bleeds just as much, maybe more than what you lead

Us to believe. I’m trying to show you

Show you that I care,

But your caught up in yourself, and won’t give into my stare

Please, can you acknowledge me

Acknowledge my presence, or my essence, or my absence when I’m not there

Time ticks on and I realize I will never be enough

Can we stop this little dance before I, like my heart, break with just a single touch
