heart of stone

heart pumping blood through my veins

can’t feel emotions

No pain.

Things are easier this way.

Keep breathing, you’ll stay alive.

Alive to others you seem in this world

To yourself you are cold to the touch.

You don’t feel a thing.

You won’t feel a thing.

You can’t feel a thing.

Heart of stone

That’s what they preach.

Feeling nothing, nothing, nothing.

Brick wall to your face

Reality hits you once again.

Stones crumble

Pain consumes you.

It is who you are.

You are not a heart of stone-

Rather stones have been thrown at your heart

Feeling everything, everything, everything.

Times are rough I tell you

I cannot lie.

Feelings of despair eat you up inside

Hiding in a world you can’t even call your own.

Forcing your way out, just to feel at home

Home is where the heart is

But what if you can’t find your heart?
