Heart-Wrenching Truth

I am the silence through the empty halls The shadow taking up the lonely stall The invisible force field that you push past each waking moment I am the hatred that you feel and the frustration that grows Because I won’t let you trap me in the unknown Or keep me from being the me that I know I am not broken for you to fix It isn’t you who will make me …Me Now that I see you, I know why you had to be there Challenging Critiquing Harassing It was never going to end with you Just leaving me there…broken No! You remained so that I could get away Not to fix myself, but to grow into What I am today I am not here to please or amuse you I’m not going to pretend everything is alright Simply to let your charade go on I am here to show you the frustration and the depth Of feelings evoked from simple words I am here to show you the hunger that exists in the world, The kind that’s happening right outside your door I am here to open your eyes to the many dark and lonely places around It must be done, for one can’t see the sun-shining glow of life If darkness is all that’s in sight Once it is acknowledged that I am here You are here We are here For a very special reason, then the world will turn itself into a prism And for that I am pleased that I was the empty silence in the halls The lonely shadow in the stall The invisible force field you pushed past each waking moment With no second thought of the tomorrow that was to come
