Heartache

Every night I lay awake in bed

Trying hard to keep you off of my mind

Feeling hurt about the bad things you said

Wondering why you couldn’t be more kind.

My heart is heavy with you being gone

And I know there is nothing I can do,

But part of me is saying to hold on

To the wish that I want to become true.

My eyes are leaking from all the sadness

And my hands are shaking from the anger,

So I try to think of the happiness

Because I can’t take this any longer.

So I still lay here with you on my mind

Trying to leave all the sad thoughts behind.
