Heartbeat

The palpitations of the cardiovascular organ reciprocates

Over and Over

Thump, thump

It usually beats louder over time in various ways

Cholesterol build up after a fatty steak

Or nervousness for an important speech

A morning run that lingers in the smoldering summer rays

Or from a first kiss that brings feelings like on Cloud Nine

After a first child is born, a parent feeling their thumps against their chest

Or after a saddening breakup, one’s heart “shatters” tremendously

Our heartbeat is the window to the soul; shows that we are human

And that we are living

Heartbeat
