Heartbeat

The sound of footsteps on the pavement

or the waves crashing on the beach

none of them compare to your heartbeat

Bounce of a ball

or clatter of silverware

neither sound much like your heartbeat

Beep of a monitor

or the thrum of the air conditioner

how much i wish to hear your heartbeat

Silence of the room

or the thud of the casket

your heartbeat is all i need
