Heartbeat of Memories

They are to me what breath is to some,

Through the fall season of life I wasn't told that with winter, strife would come.

From joyful days, to the devastating end.

From endless laughter to my broken heart to mend.

One thing remains, it can't be altered or stole.

My memories of you, all of them as a whole.

I need them to get through, I need them to breathe.

I need them to ease my pain, when my broken heart begins to seethe.

You are here today, because in my mind I see.

I can reminisce on times we shared, when we were young and free.

What a blessing it is, to never have to live without.

My memories of you, in a way they're what life's about.

I vow to keep them clear, to never let them slip.

I promise to remember you, my heart has claimed its grip.

Snapshots and glimpses of what life has been.

Frozen in time until the very end.
