Heartbreak

For seven years I lived,

laughed - cried - played - fought,

 through this I loved.

Late nights whispers,

early morning pancakes,

mid-day phone calls,

kept me going.

Summers filled with cheap ice cream,

sun bleached hair,

chipped fingernail polish,

cute lifegaurds at the pool,

kept me a kid.

The first day of school came around,

third grade,

then sixth,

Junior High,

and finally High School,

then things changed.

The boys got cuter,

the classes got harder,

the girls got meaner,

the cliques began to form,

the nights got later,

but it was just me and her,

"forever".

As the months rolled by

and summer was approaching,

the end of my freshman year

and perfect world,

began to end.

That Monday morning

I never saw it coming,

"I need some space...

for awhile."

she said.

With that she turned

and left,

tears streamed down my face as

I watched the last seven years,

and my best friend

walk through the door,

leaving me with the worst

kind of heartbreak.
