Heartbreak
HEARTBREAK
Ten letters, one word, combining to form a feeling,
That to each and every person has a similar, but completely different meaning.
And to all these different meanings, I can relate,
There is no easy way around heartbreak, there is no escape.
Some say it feels like a 100 pound weight pulling down on your heart
And to others it’s described as your chest being slowly ripped apart.
I’ve heard that it’s comparable to an excruciatingly painful virus
That starts at the feet and rises unbearably slow to the iris's.
Heartbreak can feel as if a trillion tiny needles all stick to you at the same time,
But no matter how hard you pull at them it seems like they’d be stuck there for a lifetime.
It has the power to leave you totally breathless
And you might as well forget sleeping at night because you undoubtedly will be restless.
Questions about how you’re feeling will cause you to lie awake,
Questions like: Why me? When will this feeling stop? How do I ignore this ache?
Time is said to heal all pain, sure that may be true,
Yet the pain feels like something that will be impossible to get through.
If what they say is accurate and in the future all will be well,
Then why can’t I just skip to the future and escape this living hell.
I've tried to find help but for some reason I always came up short.
No matter how many people I've talked to they’ve never given me the right support
Because at the end of the day I still end up alone in my dark room
Laying silently in my bed surrounded by heartbreak’s consuming gloom.
I cry and cry and cry screaming to find some sort of relief,
But crying rarely helps and the slight comfort I feel is brief.
Even though the pain is agonizing and everyday feels like a confusing maze,
Somehow I still have hope that I’ll find happiness at the end of each day.
I’ll live my life one day at a time with the inescapable pain,
Hoping that one day all of the grief I feel will wash away in the rain.
~Rain, rain, come today wash all of my grief away
