Hearts on Fire

Hearts on Fire

Their eyes burn into mine,
I open a yellow toothed gap between my lips
Curling myself around them.

The nightmares always come,
Clawing at my new found lines
Drawn in the sand of my resolve.

Their hands find mine through the darkness,
Retracing where my fingers began to bleed
Learning how deep the lines go

Their fingers bleed with mine
Deep deep deep
My demons are calling

You’ll never be enough
Demons calling card
They’ll leave you too

Black lungs and black hearts
Smoke rising through
Open eyed darling

Hearts on fire
