Heartstrings

They say there is a string that ties us all

to the one who's said to be our one

true love, and though the lines shall often stall,

that special person is found when it's done.

While some poor souls shall reach their journey's end

before they reach the end of their heartstring,

I can't but hope and pray for some godsend

to let me find love 'fore death conquers me.

May Aphrodite guide my wary feet

and Lachesis measure a longer thread

so happiness may be found through deciet

'fore Anthropos cuts my string, calls me dead.

Shall I find love or meet a bitter end,

with but a shattered heart to call my friend?
