Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

The King! The King! The King is dead!

The Sword of Damocles went through his head.

While sitting on his throne,

there came an old crone.

She used her last hair,

to tie the sword above his royal chair.

The King! The King! The King is dead!

The Sword of Damocles went through his head.

He made his people groan,

For this, the hag made him atone.

To prove He hadn't a care,

the proud King left his head bare.

The King! The King! The King is dead!

The Sword of Damocles went through his head.

I pray you prophesy young Prince,

of words to be uttered long, long, hence.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

Create an anadem of gold,

I suggest you wear it till you grow old.

It shall cause you to grow weary.

To bear this weight, causes all to seem dreary

Alas…

Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

Your royal hat will chafe,

but it’s the burden that keeps you safe.

For the Sword of Damocles cannot cut through,

a heavy golden crown, wrought to stress,

a King’s duty to the oppressed.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
